I've been really surprised at how difficult it is to find up-to-date suggestions of places to work from in London. A lot of the content out there goes back a couple of years, and as is sadly the case across the hospitality landscape, many places listed have since closed down. This discovery obviously gave me a big push to start my blog, as I know many people who are looking to change their workday scenery from time to time. There is one list however that I have found a couple of gems from already (7 of the best hotels to work remotely from in London - Stay the Night). You will recognise The Standard from my first blog and next on my list was nhow London in Shoreditch.

After having some fun with Google Maps and adding about a million extra steps to my daily count, I got on my way along City Road and rocked up at nhow. I definitely felt the remote worker tribe vibe as I had a quick walk around to suss out the best spot to hang for the day. There is a large hot-desking bench, plenty of lounge chair and table options and a dining room section in the very bright and art-filled public area. As I wanted lunch, I was shown to a table in the dining area and was pleased to see a very accessible plug socket. This sounds odd but believe me, some hotels like to set you a dexterity challenge with their plug locations.

Laptop being suitable fed and watered, it was time to check out the menu and the all important facilities. Although the choices are limited, there is definitely something for everyone and my nachos with all the standard toppings, glass of NZ SB and flat white (£24.50) were all very acceptable. The burger choices looked very tempting but not the easiest eat as you work option. The host Karim was really friendly and keen to tell me about the party vibe in the hotel at the weekend (I'd obviously spotted the decks).

The loodown:

As is becoming a bit of a theme, there was a bit of a walk involved. I was not disappointed though. Loved the sliding glass door entrance and proper towels. There appeared to be a pretty good gym down there too if you are that way inclined...

The hot-desking area was a lot busier than the dining area so although I didn't get quite the level of social interaction that I have on previous workcations, the background music was my jam and there was enough of a general buzz to keep me happy.

As with Ruby Lucy in Waterloo, as late afternoon turned into early evening, the bar area was filling up with post-work pleasure seekers. I love how London is really back in the game again after an extended lull following the pandemic. My social connection seeking self was venturing into post-work territory that evening, with my first Timeleft dinner booked in Spitalfields Market (update - it was absolutely brilliant and I totally recommend the experience).

The verdict:

nhow is in a great location, super close to Shoreditch and just a short walk from Angel. The staff are welcoming and the hotel is very remote worker friendly. A very budget-friendly option if you are looking to work from somewhere for the full day. I loved the art installations and the bright, colourful interior makes for a fun and positive working environment.

Good to know:

  • As many people will concur, Google Maps is not always your friend.

  • The entrance door to nhow is on the right of the building as you approach from the west, it's not immediately obvious as there is a LOT of glass involved.

Hey, did you feel safe to leave your belongings at the table or did you take everything with you when using the toilet?

Took most of them with me the first time as i didn’t know how far away they were. I left more stuff the 2nd time as i’d made friends with the staff by then 🤣
